VH - true, in general I tend to lean towards a looser car than tight. However, in this case it is so loose it is keeping me from getting on the gas as early as I like and therefore hurting me on the late parts of a run. Must be the way I'm driving your set vs you. There is no "one set fits all" in N2003 that is for sure. I will tweak it and see what happens. At what point do you start running 24s? Just want a reference.

Thanks

After 60 laps or a little later, starting with 23.0s, maybe some 22.9s.

hi volker

for compensating the car getting loose, there (to me) are 2 major ways:
- increasing front weight (maybe also causing stiffer front springs)
- increasing rf camber (i mean going from negative towards positive)

did you try&error both ways (or others also) to reach the "ideal" longrun setup, that you have now?

and also, is it true that, before the patch, best way would of been to keep the weight in the back as much as possible and just increase rf camber?

I started with my qual setup and looked for RF camber and front bias settings that provide much grip and a good handling. Then I tried nearly the same setup (with less tape) for a long run, but it didn't work, the car got loose after 40 laps. Then I moved weight forward until it worked.
Imo, RF camber is not a good setting to influence the handling, I just try to find the value that provides optimal grip.

Before the patch, the whole RF camber thing was kinda buggy...
In order to archieve a somewhat "normal" temperature spread, you had to use 0° or even slightly positive values on the fast speedways, and that's what I did.
Moving weight back definitely made you faster on the banked speedways, but there were many other settings you could change in order to be able to run with max. rear weight.
Some people ran with +2° or sth. in qualifying, but I never did that because it didn't make me any faster.

Last night I ran with guy who was running 158 with your setup, best I could do was 156.My question is it because I use assists that my car seems to push all the time?Seems no matter what track I go to that I have this problem.I just can't create any long run setups anymore, like before the patch.Any ideas???

I'm going to post a cloudy 70°F setup tomorrow, all you have to do for 82°F is peeling off 5% of tape.

UPDATE
I added setups for cloudy weather and tweaked the lower gears of those for clear weather. Please read the annotations in the first posting.

Volker,

I really appreciate your setups, they are very well balanced.

My concern is improving my technique in races. I have been working on tire conservation and running smooth so as to balance fast lap times with longevity during a race. However, recently at places like Lowes and Dover I find that although I can run an early pace as per your advice above, doing so wears my tires wear out much more quickly than your comments above would suggest. Clearly, there's something in my race technique that, while giving me similar lap times to you on fresh tires, is also wearing them out far quicker.

Would it be possible for you to offer a replay of Dover and Lowes done in race trim, running a racing pace for about 3 to 5 laps, so I can see where I am erring in my turning technique? That would be very helpful, much more so than seeing a 'hot lap' in qual trim.

Thank you again for your quality assistance to the NR2003 community.

@ Chunx:
I've posted a replay on page 2 of the Lowe's thread (Download), here's one for Dover.
The first 3 laps are a normal race pace, laps 4 and 5 are a little faster, but still no tyre frying.

Hello Volker

What changes if any would you make to your cloudy70 setup for Cloudy 62 wind north 3?

Thanks

No changes...well, maybe you can add 5% of tape in race trim, but that's it.

Im turning 156 and 157 with your race set...its a touch faster then my own set and the tire wear is very close.
