That's either the BR / TR track or driving aids I guess.

At those tracks, 49.9s aren't a problem I think, you can run looser setups there (more rear weight) because of the unrealistic grip they offer. Well, and like on the default SS, you have to run very high on laps 1 and 2 (close to the wall in the turns as well) in order to have a long way to pick up speed, and you have to get really close to the apron in the turns on lap 3.

No, I suppose the gears are too tall...you want to hit up to 6500 RPM in a restricted cup car, but up to 7800 in an unrestricted GNS car.

I don't have any...it's just the usual SS stuff: stay high on the outlap, still high on the first timed lap, go for it on your final qual lap (really down to the apron in the turns, close to the wall on the straights).

UPDATE
Shorter gears in every setup except of the clear 70°F qual setup.
Those changes will work at Tona as well of course, but I've been too lazy to change those setups so far.

Tally No-Plate

What changes would you think would be the most effective for this setup? I know that the gearing needs to be changed, however, not sure what to set that to. I'm not much of a "crew chief"...lol.

Thanks!

Question More weight in front - 08-23-2005, 04:20 PM

Hi Volker,

I read in one of the other posts (I believe it was about the Texas circuit) that it makes sense to move some weight forward (3 or 4 clicks) in your settings, just to get to get used to it. I have done that and I must say it really helped me a lot at Texas.

A couple of questions:

1. If weight is moved forward, what does this do to the car (loose speed? tire wear? ,...)

2. Does moving the weight forward also make sense on the Talladega circuit in terms of handling and grip? If not, why not?

3. Can the weight rule be applied to all your set-ups on all tracks?

Thx for helping out and for the excellent set-ups you share!

Not at dega. Move the weight back at Dega because it pushes down on the rear end, so you get less resistance from the spoiler, so higher top speeds

What to do then to improve handling and grip?

There's nothing you can do unless you want to sacrifice speed.
In order to produce more grip, lowering the tire pressures and using neutral wedge + a bit more front weight might help, but I haven't tried it yet as the grip and handling is sufficient for me and speed is more important.

1. It tightens the car, with all its negative side effects (it's slower
