Hi Volker

Thx for posting your setup for Michigan. I solely use Andreas Wilkes setups and I have never tried yours. It took me a while to get use to your Michigan ones and I have to say they are pretty good. I was able to get into the low 36.5 range for qual and was able to get a race pb of 36.8 without the draft. I tried a 40 lap race with the Al at 100 and was able to run constant 37.4 to 37.8 for the entire run. Hopefully Andreas will be able to post something so That I can compare but until then. these were nice to drive and fast. Again thx for sharing them.

Mike

UPDATE
I tightened my race setup because the car became too loose with backdraft.

Well, I just tried your updated race setup. I did a race against the AL at 101% My first 20 laps were between 37.02 and 37.20. That was with me leading I wanted to do the whole race to see but I had a brainfart and hit the wall. Super fast and seems very consistant. Those times were run with me pushing but not over driving. I really like this setup. Thanks

Okay I was finally able to finish a race. 101% Al. I started second and quickly fell to 11th. Then I spent pretty much half the race getting up to 2nd. Then I struggled to pass the leader. At the end of the race my right sides were yellow. But the setup was rock solid in traffic. Very very stable. A copy of my laps are below the race. I am going to have to try your first one again.

Another UPDATE:
The setup I uploaded yesterday seems to be a little bit too tight, now the balance is between the first and the second one.

Even though for me that is. I like the way the new setup feels. I mean it feels awesome for the first 20 laps. The car still got tight on me. The new setup could very well be better maybe I just ran too hard for the first 10. I need to find an online race to fairly rate these. I do agree the first setup is loose. For me personally I just love how the setup get me through turns 3 and 4. I also have to keep on top of the car with the loose one. If I day dream during the first 10 laps my race is over. I also noticed with the loose setup I did not have an issue with tire temps and For me I got better tire wear. Either way. I am really starting to enjoy your setups. I even tried your Lowes one. I beat my pb by .04 sec.

Volker If I may ask a question. Do you do setup packages? What I mean is besides the 70F. Do you do 60F 80F and cloudy ones?

Thanks again for sharing with all of us.

PS. You know what? I was just looking at the times together and If I take the last 2 laps out the new one is faster than the first one. So My conclusion is? I will just shut up.

No, I usually don't save my setups for other conditions than 70°F clear. For some tracks I have a setup for cloudy conditions, but not for Michigan.

Your description about the two different versions of my setup is exactly what I also think about them. For an offline testing session without any cars around, the setup with front bias @ 1745 lbs might be better, but it gets too unstable with backdraft which makes it too dangerous to use it in a race.
Well, it might even be possible to use it for sprint races such as those 20-lappers at Papy, but I would not recommend using it for league races where you begin more slowly.

I could not help myself. I just did an 101% Al race 40 laps with your first setup. The loose one. I did not qualify. I started at the back 15 car race. Car seems real good to me. I kinda enjoyed it. I think you can't go wrong with either the first or the new one.

One more thing. Volker could you post your car here for replay purposes?

Looks like you're right...
I also did some more testing with the loose setup today and only got into trouble when I touched the apron. Well, and as I actually don't plan to do this in a race, I can use my first setup.

(I updated it in the first posting.)

The main reason I tightened the setup for was that I got loose with it on a Papy server. I could catch the car without bringing anyone else into trouble, but these car control problems should not occur. I still don't know what it was caused by, well, I probably touched the apron in traffic and didn't recognize it.

UPDATE
I finally went back to the medium version (front bias @ 1750 lbs). The more loosy version is great if you either run completely alone, if you're behind another car in draft or if you're in the middle of a group of cars which means that you have both draft and backdraft. But it gets too loose if you're leading a group and the guy behind you races nose to tail, then the aero-loose effect is too strong.

UPDATE
I use some rear spring split now and moved weight to the front, both for qualifying and race trim. The result was a 198 mph qualifying lap.
