Set brake bias to ~65%, that will also work with a more conservative way of braking.

LOL, thats one of the things I learned from your Darlington set, ran it at 63% bias for the race. Couldn't risk an accidental spin going into 3 and 4.

Nice Setup for Darlington! Others were faster in the beginning, but on the long run when it counted, Your Setup was still there.
Thanks!

Well, VH, I have been using your setups lately and I can't thank you enough! Most of these setups that people make are way too loose. Yours ROCK!! My first two races with your setups were Atlanta and Darlington in our league. I placed 2nd at Atlanta (was faster than first, just couldn't get around him during last 10-lap shootout after a restart) and I won at Darlington!
I have 17 month-old triplets, so I don't get much time to set a car up. Plus, N2K3 has me all screwed up anyway as to a logical approach to setting up a car. I seem to have lost the ability to do it well. I am able to drive your setups right out of the box. I can't get near your q times, but I got a lot better than I could get with my own efforts.
Once again, much obliged, sir!

Hey Volker, I am curious about this. From which setup did your setup derive from, did you copy it from another track or did you alter the expert setup or did you built it from scratch.
Well, my approach here was using my (i.e. your) Rockingham setup for my first Nascar 2003 visit here about 3 month ago. Now coming back to Darlington and doing the obligatory check on your setup here, I saw that our setups were basically identical except for the front weight bias which was way lower on mine (I had to find it out the hard way in my first race that it was way too low, hehe, so I immediately took your front weight setting, hehe).
So did you also use your Rockingham setup as a template? I was just stunned when I compared them, so I have to ask.
Thanks for thje info, and thanks for sharing!

All of my setups based on each other somehow, I never start with the expert setup or anything like that.
You're right about Darlington, I started with my setup for NC because the turns are very similar and because the car gets extremely loose when the tires wear on both tracks.

me?
in all seriousness, i don't remember.. sorry.. after wacking the Turn 4 wall i had a bit of tire rub from the RF fender so i bet that didn't help
plus, at Darlington and The Rock i consider myself a late charger not a best-i-can-get-every-lap kinda runner..
hold on, i do that every race

Hi Volker
Thanks for your sets they are very good, very nice work. I have a race
coming up in 2 days with the weather set at Cloudy 91 degrees wind SW 9 mph
I was wondering what would be the best way to adjust the set for that?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Keep up the good work mate : )
Cheers
Shads

That's hard, Darlington is very special and I haven't been there for a while...
Well, I'd start with the clear 70°F setup and try the following changes:
Qual trim:
Drop diff ratio to 3.800:1.
Race trim:
Drop diff ratio to 3.800:1 and reduce tape to 40 or 45%, you need to check that yourself. I don't think that you have to change front bias or any other handling-related settings.
Furthermore, you might want to tweak the gearing, you need a gear like 6.5:1 for good restarts.

It seems to me the setup is too tight for Darlington. It should be looser at the start as the track tightens setups with tire wear.

I loosened it up too, BUT: Darlington loosens up with worn tires, speciall exit T4 can get hairy with a loose car. Depending on how you drive, it is not wise to loosen it up too much.
You can try putting the weight one click to the front and loosen it up by other measures like reducing lf spring or adding rebound. I usually add quite a bit of wedge.
