You have done a very fine job here dude. Tire wear on your latest Lowe'a set is fantastic as I ran a 40% 2X League event with it and my hat is off to you!!!

Are you going to take another look at this setup or is it as good as it gets? It's been so long since I've ran it.. I'm going to practice early, race is still 2 weeks away.

Don't over drive it! - 05-17-2004, 04:59 AM

Once you establish a good line for this setup don't over drive it. Try turning you enigine sound down a bit to establish your best line for this set and keep the tires quiet. Let the field do what it may and run the race the set is made for and it will real some folks in for you in a few laps or so, it did me any way. Its strongest point is towards the end of the tank of gas when the lap speed is still impressive. The few changes that I have made to this set to get a faster lap only would kill me in a long race burning up the tires. I have tweaked very few of this Guru's sets as I am not that good in the garage myself after years of this. VH consistantly comes out with some great stuff to go to battle with in long races and I know I can speak for XVRL Racing League as i am the President we all respect this man's talents in the garage and appreciate all he has contributed to the Sim.

VH
Could you run a 5-10 lap practice replay, it would be much appreciated. The last one helped me get two wins at Richmond...Thanks

Push - 05-17-2004, 10:14 PM

i'm having problems running this set...best so far at 70f clear is a 28.730 on my first lap but on the second lap it doesn't seem to want to turn coming out of 4....same with the race set i'm 29.000s for about 5 laps and then lap 6 comes and it won't turn coming out of 4 and in order to make it turn i have to crawl through the turn and wind up with 29.700s - 29.900s and after 6 laps running that slow is gonna kill me.....the set is awesome and real fast i just can't seem to get it to last very long also the league i run in runs 2x pit so if you could maybe give me some tips to fix this it would be greatly appreciated......thx

The tires already start to lose grip on your 2nd qual lap, so you have to enter turn 3 a little slower than on your first lap.

If you have those problems in race trim, it indicates that you're just starting too quickly. If your best hot lap is a 29.0, start with 29.3s or slower (or a little faster with a good draft). Just make sure that you don't have more than 235-240°F in the middle of the right front tire, at least not for several laps.

@ Ratattack:
I'm going to run and post some laps tomorrow.

@ polo77:
Looks like you haven't found the right line yet...
Of course, the race setup is more pushy than the qual version, but you shouldn't notice much of a push if you run 29.3s with fresh tires.

UPDATE
I reduced the right side tire pressures by 1 psi in race trim, no changes to the qual setup.

Thank you again Another great set-up I'm only running 29.3 now, but i haven't watched your replay yet.I have one question. What adjustments could i make to this set-up during a pitstop to make it better on a 10-20 lap sprint? I can't afford to lose any spots on the last run. Thanks again

Raise the right side track bar (F7 iirc), 9.50 oughta work for the final 10-20 laps.

What are some things I could do to get this great setup to run well with the CTS physics? I have moved the weight forward a bit.
