Hallo Volker,

Volker,
Awesome setup. Very fast and surprisingly stable. One question. What changes if any would you make for cooler weather, say 55-60 degrees?

I assume you mean clear weather, I haven't done any real testing with cloudy conditions yet.
Qual trim:
Very easy, just drop the diff ratio by a click.
Race trim:
Set tape to 60 or 65%, diff ratio to 3.500:1 or 3.563:1, you need to do some testing before the race...either offline before you join the server or in warmup.
First of all try 65% tape and 3.500:1.
If the engine temperatures (especially water) are too high, go down 60% / 3.563:1.
If the engine temperatures are still quite low after 10 laps, you might be able use 65% / 3.563:1, that's probably possible if you have about 52°F.
If you finally decide to use 65% tape, add a click of front bias. And don't forget to adjust the lower gears, with 55°F clear I wouldn't want to start with a higher gear ratio than 6.5:1.

Thanks for the tips. I'm only practicing with clear weather, but my league runs realistic weather and it keeps setting it in the 52-62 degree range. I just hope we don't get clouds at race time!! I'm hitting some 28.5's at the cooler temps with no changes to the set, but was wondering what changes I might need to make. Thanks again.

I have a question. !st off volker u make amazing set i use them for all my league races as a starting basis they are solid and i hope you will continue to hook ppl up. 2nd my league race is 64 degrees cloudy with a wind of n 1mph. I tried your atlanta set with no changes and it was ok but got really tight. i could only get about 24 to 26 laps before the rf would go yellow. I tired the tape and it wont work gets too hot so i just did your Diff suggestion much better. I can run a 28.1 race trim but thats pushing it. The RF is hitting anywhere from 260 - 280 degrees on the inside and middle temp. I have tried everything to take weight off that tire to make it last longer but to no avail. I have moved weight back increased TP added wedge spring nothing works its jsut seems to get hotter. Im curious what kind of tire wear lap wise i should be getting. Im guessing i just need to run a ton slower likw 28.9 and 29's to get the full life out of it. The qual set i am almost able to hit 27's but its hairy. Open to any and all suggestion from anyone. im only getting about 3 laps on the rf before yellow btw not very good if u ask me.

You're probably running too fast...28.7s or even more slowly is OK I think, anything faster will kill the RF tire very quickly. I just posted setups for cloudy weather at the beginning of this thread, use 2nd gear for restarts with them.

Thanks Volker i appreciate it. I wish i could pick your brain on how u arrive at your sets they are truely amazing i like Andy Wilkes but u seem to have a similar driving style to my own which suits me best. OUt of curiosity what would u say my tire temps should be at those speeds and conditions if u can see and how long should my tires last. I noticed that in the real Cup race that they were pitting fo rtires around lap 56-58 and some were down to the cords on the tires.

I have no idea what tire temps will look like, but I don't think tire wear will be that much different from clear weather which means that the RF tire will turn yellow after about 40 laps (RR a few laps earlier) if you start slowly.

i just tired your cloudy set and i am still burning up that rf with a temp of 270 even if i take it easy and run 28.7's and 28.8's i can only get about 28 laps before yellow thats not drafting either in 64 cloudy not sure what else to try i know the faster guys i race against will be running similar times if not faster and get great tire wear any suggestions.

Just finished league practice with your Atlanta setup Volker. Weather was 61 degrees clear. Changed tape to 65%, diff ratio to 3.500:1, one click front bias. Ran a hotlap of 28.006. In practice race, I ran 28.9's to 29.5's, letting the front three go by half a lap. At lap 20, I started reeling them in easily, running 28.5's-29.2's. Tires lasted great running like that. No tires turned yellow until lap 50. Thanks again for the set and the additional help.

Could you pls upload some laps somewhere?
I wouldn't be surprised if you had 250°F, that's not unusual with cloudy weather, but 270+...phew, looks like there is a problem with the line, I suppose you're running too much on the RF tire at the exit of the turns...

I won the race with your setup with no changes because we run in our eague 2X pit stops and you set was flawless.
I Just Downloaded your Darlington set and it is the same for me it is awsome.

A Nice setup altogether. Only for me the Q setup seems overly loose compared to the race setup. I have to admit Im a relative newbie to racing, but with the race setup I've managed to go 29.0s consistently. Whereas the Q setup I barely manage to keep the car straight. I have a notion that I'm driving the corners too slow with the Q setup so when I floor the pedal exiting the corner there's too big a change in the dynamic balance and the back slides out.
So in the end I'm thinking I should just practice a lot more with the Q setup. Anyway this is a very nice setup and for the first time Im looking forward to being competetive in my league race next week
