Bottoming out with Volker's Lowe's setup - 07-29-2004, 08:03 PM

Hi. I'm a newbie at NASCAR 2003, but I'm getting much better and faster with the setups I downloaded here!
I race at Lowe's exclusively, so I can work on consistency and speed...
ONe problem is that in the middle of turn 2, the car bottoms out if I'm low.
doesn't do it if I'm pretty high on the track, but every time when i'm low.
it's not a MAJOR bottom out, but it shoots sparks out the back!

I've raised the ride height significantly to compensate, but it doesn't really seem to make a difference.

Should I tighten the compression? or the springs?

many thanks for any advice!

What about ignoring it and letting the car bottom out?

that wouldn't be very realistic

When will the truth be revealed? stay tuned for the next time LxMartini shits out of his mouth.

I beleive what Volker is telling you is if it doesnt upset the car(wash up the track or make it tight) then is not an issue. Ive run alot of Volkers setups and ive experienced some bottoming out and it was an issue some of it was my driving some was ride height/spring
staying in the throttle just a little more holds the nose up more. Great job on the sets Volker your a pretty sharp kid

I have found most of Volkers set-ups bottom out, but there real fast too. Volker you know what your doing theres no doubt about it. I use your stuff a lot but I can't always hang on to it. It always takes a few laps cause there so lose at the start of a run, but they always come in just right. Is there anything to do if you have fresh tires with a few laps to go on a restart to tighten up the car up? Keep up the good work I need it!

You can add wedge...press F6 (or is it F7? one of them is for wedge, the other one is for track bar) before your pit stop and then press the right arrow key a few times. I think adding 20-30 lbs (4-6 clicks) will do it if you're able to control the original setup unless you run hard.

P.S.
The adjustments you make at your pit stops are saved to the setup, so don't forget to go to the garage and undo them after the race.
