Cup setups on BGN cars? - 07-31-2007, 11:20 AM

Will transfering the setup from a Cup car to a Busch car work? Some of the guys that I like haven't done setups for the BGN mod.

You have to adjust the gearing, as the GNS cars' power tops out about 1000 RPM before the cup car. Furthermore, some minor spring and front weight adjustments might be required due to the car's lower weight and higher corner speeds, and you can usually use a click more tape due to the lower revs you run.

Thanks Volker! So it is easily doable.

Cheers!

No, I only use the cup physics, as they're the most fun as well as being the most realistic by far.

GNS cars are pretty much the same as cup, just less weight and less power, especially at high revs because of undersized caburetors. So what you want to do in GNS cars is:
1. Use a significantly taller gear because the power already tops out at 7500 to 7800 RPM and drops off quickly after that.
2. Adjust the springs all around; that can go both ways, as the cars are lighter which would allow you to run softer springs, but they're also faster in corners which compresses them an extra bit and would require stiffer springs - at least at the tracks where you actually have enough power to be as fast or faster going into the corners, which is not the case everywhere.
3. Adjust front bias to compensate for the balance changes caused by different springs, engine power and downforce.
4. Add a click of tape (at least at most places), as the engine won't get quite as hot at lower revs.

I´ve tried this and it works pretty well, I´ve found it alot easier to transfer a CTS set to GNS due to the fact that trucks physics was taken from GNS.
