Nettiquette
1. Never forget that you're dealing with human beings!
2. Don't repeat questions which have been answered before!
3. Read first, then write!
The forum is a community. It isn't made of computers and cables, its essence are people from all over the world. People who use the Internet and other computer networks to exchange information. You'll probably notice sooner rather than later that in such a community, there are always a few who don't behave as well as you'd wish. The following hints will help you to avoid mistakes and to use this forum successfully.
Only send your question or posting to the forum best suited for the topic. This ensures that it is read by the right people.
Try to be precise and concise, because many people don't read more than a screen page or two. But be sure to include all relevant details.
If you quote another posting in your reply, quote the question you're referring to in your reply but delete all portions of the original article irrelevant to your posting.
Use a short but concise subject, because many readers select which postings they read based on the subject line. Make sure you know the difference between the 'Reply' and 'New Topic' buttons.
Don't use the forum for flaming, advertising, chain letters or illegal activities. If you run into something in that ballpark, which unfortunately may happen from time to time, don't make things worse by replying. Such postings are best ignored. The Admin will take care of them.
Read and edit your posting before posting it - the readers will appreciate this as it keeps the postings and threads readable.
Don't create postings consisting of nothing but a smiley and a few characters (like ***g). They are meaningless.
If you all follow the rules, we'll all enjoy this forum for a long time.
Forum Rules
Dear Visitor, these are the rules for using the forum. Please also read the Netiquette FAQ.
New Topics (Threads):
Before you start a new thread, make sure there isn't already an older thread about this same topic. Double postings regarding the same topic in several different subforums will be removed.
Wrong Forum:
Make sure you create new threads only in the appropriate forum. If you create a thread in the wrong forum, we'll move it to the appropriate forum.
Quoting:
Quotes are used to draw the reader's attention to a specific point in another posting. Use them at your discretion, but make sure to only quote the relevant text section, not the entire posting. This makes sure your readers know what you are referring to.
Advertising:
Don't do it - except if you want to post an interesting link directly related to the topic of a posting or thread. Any commercial advertising will be deleted. Anyone repeatedly violating this rule will be banned from the forum, and may be sued if necessary.
Links in a Forum:
Links must be related to the topic of the thread or posting. All others will be deleted. Posters of links to racist, pornographic or illegal content will be banned from the forum, and will in severe cases be reported to the police.
Signatures:
Members can create their own signatures. Links are permitted in signatures except those linking to racist, pornographic or illegal content. Such links will be removed by the admins. Repeated violation of this rule will get the perpetrator banned.
Privacy:
Private data like phone number, addresses etc. should not be posted to forums. If you need to exchange private data, use emails or messenger programs. To protect your privacy, postings containing private data will be removed.
Personal Abuse and Foul Language:
Postings containing personal abuse will be removed and the poster will be warned. If he posts abusive comments again, he will be banned from the forum, or even be reported to the police, depending on the severity. This also applies to foul language in postings.
Inappropriate Use of Forums:
Members who use the forums for jokes or inappropriate postings will be banned from the forum and these postings will be deleted.
Uploading Images:
You may include images in your postings if they are related to the topic of the posting. Images with pornographic or illegal content will be deleted. If a member repeatedly posts inappropriate images, he will be warned or banned from the forum.
Copying external Content:
For copyright reasons, it is not permitted to include texts or other content from web pages. Include a link to that content instead. Postings containing external content will be deleted.
Editing and Deleting Postings:
In order to avoid multiple postings, addendums should not be posted in a separate message, but should appended to the original posting using the editing functions. This keeps the threads more readable. Each member can edit his own postings at all times. Postings made in error cannot be deleted by members, but only by the Admins. If a member wants to delete a posting made in error, he should contact the Admin and ask him to delete the posting.
Take care
your setup-guru team
