Infineon (Sears Point) -

Infineon
Ok, so here's my first upload...
Before that, I'll write a quick guide about this track. Actually, it's not a guide, is more like a detailed lap comment about this uploaded lap. I hope it helps...
So, before starting the lap, in corner 13 (last corner) I did a line to exit with the best speed possible. I saved that in the replay file, it's easier to understand. That works only for Qualifying, of course.
Changing up to 5th gear before corner 1 works good to drop the car downforce a bit and help turn-in - that way you can do corner 1 flat without going too wide on exit. For corner 3 the important thing is the braking and entrance. It's good to keep the most speed possible during the left hander (corner 2) before braking to get more downforce for the braking. The braking must be done in a straight line there, so the car is not too loose; it's a good idea to let the car roll a little bit on the exit of that left hander to get this straight line. After braking the car enough, move to 1st gear to have a better wheelspin for the cornering and exit - and keep it up until 3rd gear down the "hill". Once again it's important for corner 4 to brake straight, as it's a downhill braking the front wheels might lock, and having that with a turned car is not going to work. After that, move to 2nd gear and try to keep the car the closest to the internal curb as possible (there's a right angle to hit it without losing stability, that works even better). That's an "S", so the trick there is to do it as a straight line cutting both corners. I often prefere to put 3rd gear between those corners to have a better traction on exit, but that makes the car loose. Anyway, if you keep close to the internal curb, doing a late right turn-in will work. Now we come to corner 6, right-hander. Another downhill braking, so - same thing, brake straight, etc. That corner has no trick at all - just keep a little bit of braking at turn-in to keep the front wheels down and avoid understeer as it's a downhill corner as well. Hitting the internal curb is very dangerous, but there's a little tick of it that works good - I think I did in this lap. Ah, use 2nd gear there. Corner 7 has no line tricks. Just brake as late as possible and have a turn-in with a little throttle to get some more wheelspin to help cornering. That's a 1st gear corner, so careful on locking rear wheels on braking. The next sequence of corners are very important cause there you gain/lose a with small details. The main idea is to do a corner there thinking about the next one. Hitting curbs helps a lot to cut some meters and have a better line for the next one. I switch from 2nd to 3rd inside there, exiting with a low rev 4th gear to avoid loss of traction. Up to 5th gear cornering left in a line where you are as close as possible to the left gravel for braking. I still think that is possible to do it in 5th gear, but I couldnt find a good combination of revs to do it better then using 4th still. So- get the car straight for braking and move to 4th gear, keeping throttle during the corner to get downforce as it's a fast corner. Finally, getting to the last corner again. It's a good idea to move as max left as possible, inside pit entrance line, so that you can turn a little bit right and have a longer straight line braking. That way you can get inside the corner braking, that helps. Keep some wheelspin during the corner and gear up to 2nd on mid-revs for the exit. You can also cut a few meters on the quick left hander before the end of the lap - even if you lose a little speed, it's fast cause you cut meters.
Well, think I wrote too much for a "quick guide".
That's a good lap, although it needs some setup changes cause the car is too unstable when hiting curbs. Brake bias is too much to the front as well, but it was safer that way for now. I will improve this sometime.
As always - Weather Clear, 70ºF no wind, with Full Fuel Tank (22gl).
I hope it helps, so, here's the replay + setup...

Hi and thanks
Well, honestly I don't have it, but that doesn't mean that I can't make one.
I guess I am too late for your race, but I'll work one for you soon and I hope it's useful for the future, ok?
Keep looking

Yes, as you might have noticed I am concentrated on Qualifying setups. They are normally easy do adapt for a race, not much work. Feel glad that you feel good while driving them.
Watkins Glen Long? All right, by the end of the week I guess I'll have it done.

Hey Fernando! its Bill Lang again, I hope you are still around although I have not seen you post any of your setups recently, I really miss them as they helped me alot I really need some help at Watkins Glen in a cup car!!!!, I saw at the hotlaps.de site you run, a guy named 'Derek_Wood', has beaten your Watkins time , I cannot imagine how he could do this, your line is much better than his, he appears to be using some form of hack or exploit, do you know anything about this? I really hope you can help me Fernando, you are the best and I wish you the best of luck in real motorsport this season!

I checked and I think Derek's line is better in the Esses (basically exit t2) and the Outer Loop. BTW he's commonly known as one of the best/fastest N2003 drivers around
