I used to league race in Nascar 2003 years ago, and I lost contact with everyone. What sim did everyone gravitate to for Nascar Cup racing? I have the itch again.
It's pretty scattered right now. Our league, Racing For Jesus Motorsports, uses rFactor and the VHR, TPSCC, and Legends Mods. I would say the VHR mod is closest to what NR2003 was like and is my personal favorite mod.
Another direction seems to be iracing which has some of the NR2003 developers on their team. It is a subscription service and at this moment doesn't have any private league capability, but is supposed to soon. We will be looking at this once the league play is available. It has NASCAR sanctioning and several of the drivers from NASCAR race in it.
temperature plays a role in how your car feels on the oval. The fan who will gravitate toward NASCAR Sim Racing will typically have great affinity for and experience with NASCAR as a sport. Because of this, the game demands a higher degree of driving sophistication than the NASCAR titles found on the consoles. With all the driver aids turned off, you won't be able to scrape your way to the head of the line. Instead, you'll need to make intelligent use of drafting to give yourself the edge needed to overtake the competition. Fail to do so and you'll find yourself quickly lagging behind the pack, with no hope of catching up. While the game is skewed toward gear heads, it features a number of difficulty settings, including adjustable AI settings and car-specific driving aids such as anti lock brakes.
