can rFactor be purchased online if so, how big is it to Download?

Get the 'Full install' Version, you will have a 1 hour demo after which you will have to unlock it. It's about 1GB.

Until recently it was only available via download

If you have purchased it, It will the best value for money driving sim you buy.
The quality of the mod's is incredible. Please try GP79 when you have mastered the in built cars. Get your self the real feel FFB mod.
