If you have anything valuable inside your home, you probably don’t want to see it stolen. And that’s a big fear when selling your house- especially if your open house is busy, your realtor might not be able to watch everyone who comes in and out. This is scary in and of itself, but even worse is the idea that you don’t know who’s coming into your house, and what they may be taking out of your house. A potential thief could use an open house as a good time to case the joint, and figure out their plan for when they rob you later that night.

You Never Know Who’s Coming

Much like the fear of thieves, open houses aren’t great for another big reason: you don’t know who’ll be walking through your doors. Whether it’s a nosy neighbor that you don’t like all that much, or even just somebody who just doesn’t intend on buying a home, an open house can reach out to a lot more customers than you want. Once you open your house, it’s open for the day, and you can’t really just close out a couple people. You’ve got to open it to everyone who even pretends to be a prospective buyer.

Your Agent Might Not Have The Same Motives As You

It’s a true idea- your agent might not want the same things out of the sale of your Sacramento house that you want. There’s another potential problem, though. Your agent might be using your open house to find prospective clients, which isn’t what you want going on at your open house- instead, you want to be actively selling your home!
