You know, I happen to disagree with some of the posts concerning the SuperSpeedway COT Mod. Most mods are based on the cup physics, but the the SS mod developers tried to simulate real life physics wherever they could. Like some of you, I also happen to find many differences between the cup and cot.
For one thing, if I remember correctly, the 2006-2007 NASCAR COT is 600 lbs heavier than the previous cup cars. It has a higher center of gravity and the RPMs top at 9200 vs 10000 for the real cup. The HP was also lowered, in particular the Toyotas which exceeded the limits by 15 hp and are required restrictor plates. If you are that deep into this, you can find a short list in the ESPN website, but watching a Nationwide race or an ARCA race where they use the old cup cars you'll see the difference.
I have used the sets published here and I haven't had much luck with them, so to speak. I always have to change something here or there. But at least we have a place to start since at least the gearing seems to work fine. The one thing that many people overlook is the spoiler angle. On the COT the spoiler isn't all that effective. If you reduce the angle to get better speed, you also need to raise the back to get better downforce. This can be a time consuming affair until you get it trimmed right.
The bigger question I have is if it's possible to use the cup physics by renaming the files and inserting them in the COT series. It looks to me that some drivers are doing something like that in some leagues.
