I know what you mean. I use the SS.net COT car mod and try to use the Safer Barrier tracks mostly. Sometimes I find if you move the weight forward anywhere between three and four clicks with VH's setups it helps tremendously with the handling, but I lack the speed.

Any suggestions on how to gain more speed on the setups?

Hell, at 54 years old I lack the expertise and patience trying to do my own setups. LOL!!!!
